FESP A NEW PROJECT BY THE DDM TEAM


the label is introducing a new Project/Initiative that collects old materials which may be anything from curtains, sheets, table cloths, pillow cases, scrap fabrics and clothes that are no longer wanted or needed by the general public the label recycles the clothes gives the clothing a new lease on life, This idea was inspired by the effects of misusing clothing and fabric on our environment , in our research/studies we have found that 1million tonnes of textile and fabric are being thrown away every year of which 50% are recyclable as a up and coming fashion label we want to introduce something that has not been done in Port Elizabeth, a:

 
ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS OF RECYCLING CLOTHING:

1.    Reduces the amount of pesticides, petroleum and water needed to grow and dye fabrics.

2.    Cuts down pollution, greenhouse gases and volatile organic compounds released into the water and air from the fabric manufacturing process.

3.    Reduces the need for landfill space/land for growing raw fibres

4.    Reduces pressure on natural resources

5.    Helps to lessen energy consumption and pollution as fibres do not need to be manufactured and transported.

 

BENEFITS OF RECYCLED CLOTHING TO THE CONSUMER:

1.    We give back to the community by donating 30%of the clothes we revamped to a local charity.
